About Me

I believe a good day starts with the following: coffee, bacon, eggs, and a good book.

My name is Michael.

24 and currently living in Chi-Town and a soon to be graduate of Columbia College Chicago. Been spending the past three years on my fiction writing degree.

Favorite things to read include:

  • Coming of Age
  • Horror
  • Thriller
  • Romance (just not cheesy as hell)
  • Anything that deals with mental illness
These are just the favorites, but I'm very open to read anything!

Comics and graphic novels take up a huge part of my heart. When I was little it was Batman and Spawn that did the trick, and with age I’ve found myself in the words of Alan Moore’s Watchmen and Craig Thompson’s Blankets.

But I read everything from fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and plays.

Writing and reading help me look at the world, as well as to better understand myself. They both help me to dig into the mysteries of life, to explore, and to learn.

Here at Reading Into It I want to share my love for reading and writing. This is a place for a collection of reviews, and musings involving the written word. Whether that be a review on the 2000th Stephen King novel, or a musing on what it means to be a writer,  or on the social power comics hold with today’s youth, it’ll be here.

Other things to know about me:

  • I am a music junkie, particularly if it has anything to do with being punk, hip hop, jazz, or alternative.

  • It’s also a dream of mine to one day start up my own reading/poetry series. I have a history of being an event planner, and have hosted many open mics. Always looking for opportunities to work with others and help with events.

  • I'm a gigantic film buff and video game lover.

  • Currently working on my first novel.

Hope you enjoy yourself here. Feel free to leave a comment.
